How do they spend their time when not working events? What trends are they excited to see couples explore over the next year? We’ll have a wide variety of vendors from different backgrounds answer these questions and more.

District Remix – Jacob Jensen
How did you get into the event industry?
During my freshman year of college, I started working for a DJ company assisting on weddings during the weekends. I really enjoyed it, and by the time I was a senior, I was doing weddings full time. I’ve been doing it ever since with my business partner, Jason Wallace. We love it!
What’s your favorite part of every wedding day?
My favorite part is once everyone kicks back and starts dancing without a care in the world!
What should every couple be asking of vendors in your industry when considering booking for an event?
All couples should ask, “Can I see a sample of your work?” It’s standard for so many other vendors; work – like a photographer’s – but for some reason, DJs are usually booked on how they talk on the phone as opposed to how they spin the music. That extra step really sets our clients’ minds at ease.
What’s a trend for the upcoming year that you would like to see more couples embrace?
I like seeing cake cuttings that aren’t announced! That, or adult-only receptions which really allow parents to cut loose!
What’s the most unique client request that you’ve ever had for a wedding or event?
We’ve played along with bands for their band breaks, and we’ve even had a client have us do “La Hora Loca” or “The Crazy Hour” for the last bit of dancing as they broke out the costumes!
What makes you and your business unique?
We pair our couples with the right DJ for them, matching music tastes and personalities. We also are one of the few companies that you get to see us DJ before you book us.
What’s your favorite thing to do when not working weddings/events?
I love to play social sports with friends or go to concerts.
